TIXOBENT® SF4 for LTA CR107 Pasir Ris East Station: Diaphragm Walls in Singapore

Siam Minerals supplied drilling fluids for LTA CR107 Pasir Ris East Station, part of Singapore’s Cross Island Line. The works included 425 diaphragm wall panels and 399 cross-wall panels, requiring support fluids suited to a large underground construction project.
Excavation through the Kallang Formation and Old Alluvium called for stable slurry properties across varying ground conditions. As a local drilling fluid supplier in Singapore, Siam Minerals provided TIXOBENT® SF4 bentonite, BOREPOL® X5 and BOREPOL® X15 polymers, and the additives SIM SPERSE and CEM CONTROL.
A project highlight was the use of a full polymer support fluid system for selected walls—the first reported application of this approach to diaphragm wall construction in Singapore. Using both bentonite and polymer systems gave the project flexibility to meet different excavation and ground requirements.
